Documentary Artists’ Statement

Our short documentary, “Get Your Gravel On: Gravel Racing in the Borderlands,” is rooted in a deep interest in the ambitious and untold story behind the inaugural Apacheria Gravel bike race. We were fascinated by the collaborative effort and vision required to launch such an event in the Arizona Borderlands. This drove us to explore its origins, illuminating how gravel biking has the power to connect people to both the land and each other. This film aims not just to capture the excitement of the race, but to inspire a broader appreciation for this unique sport, its deep community roots, and to explore the challenges of hosting an inaugural event.
