Gravel With Purpose: Support Conservation in the Borderlands

Every great adventure deserves a greater purpose.

At BorderLands Gravel, we’re all about the ride. But we’re just as passionate about the land beneath our tires. The desert isn’t just a backdrop for a race. It’s a living, breathing ecosystem shaped by centuries of human history and wild beauty. That’s why we’re proud to introduce a new way for this year’s riders to give back.

When you register for BorderLands Gravel, you’ll have the chance to support Cuenca Los Ojos, a nonprofit doing critical work to conserve and restore the land we race through.

Meet Cuenca Los Ojos (CLO)

Based just across the border from Douglas in Sonora, Mexico, Cuenca Los Ojos is on a mission to heal the land. Their team is rewilding over 120,000 acres of high-desert terrain, bringing back native species like the North American Bison, Jaguar, and Pronghorn that once roamed freely through this region.

Through land acquisition, watershed restoration, wildlife corridor protection, and cross-border collaboration, they are creating a sanctuary that spans national lines. It’s the kind of bold, border-transcending vision that echoes the spirit of our event.

Why It Matters to BorderLands

Our gravel race cuts through some of the most awe-inspiring landscapes in the borderlands. Wide-open skies. Remote roads. That only exists because organizations like Cuenca Los Ojos are doing the hard, patient work of land restoration.

When we talk about the BorderLands experience, we’re also talking about their legacy. The place we ride wouldn’t be what it is without their care and stewardship.

How You Can Help

This year, when you register for BorderLands Gravel, you’ll see a new option to donate to Cuenca Los Ojos. It’s completely optional, but even a few dollars can make a real difference.

Here’s what it looks like:

  • $5 (Thank you!)

  • $10 (Suggested donation. Thank you!)

  • $15 (Outstanding. You rock.)

  • $25 (You’re a superstar.)

Your entire donation goes directly to CLO. No middlemen. No fluff. Just impact.

Ride with Purpose

Our hope is simple. That your BorderLands experience goes beyond the finish line. That it connects you more deeply to the place, the people, and the future of this region.

By supporting Cuenca Los Ojos, you are helping protect and restore one of the most unique ecological corridors in North America. You are not just racing. You are investing in something bigger.

Register today and ride in November.
